Cairo Angels

a forum for investors to find high potential start ups.

Are you an Investor?
Are you an Entrepreneur?

Cairo Angels in brief

Each of our members makes his or her individual investment decision — but we collaborate in due diligence. Collectively we make equity investments in the range of LE 250,000 to LE 2 million per company, and can syndicate larger investments to our partner organisations. We are as comfortable leading as we are being co-investors, but we never take majority stakes. We fund and welcome the opportunity to work with dynamic and astute entrepreneurs, and especially ones who are open to taking advice.

Investments made

Since our inception in early 2012 Cairo Angels has invested almost 2 Million USD in 19 start-ups with binding offers being made almost on a quarterly basis.

Although most of our investments to date have been in the tech space, Cairo Angels aims to invest across all sectors with a particular appetite for export oriented products and services. Cairo Angels are especially interested in businesses from the agricultural, logistics and energy sectors, and hope to see more women entrepreneurs applying. Cairo Angels are open to regional start-ups applying for funding as well.

Egypt has a low cost base, wealth of underserved opportunities, talented and capable youth, and lack of competition. Together these produce a potential for substantial returns.

Syndicating investments

As the network gains reach we are finding partner organisations across the Arab world and diaspora who are interested to invest in the start-up asset class. We wish to cooperate with these groups, either by syndication or co-investment. If you represent an angel group or early stage VC please reach out to us. CairoAngels’ members pride themselves on the quality of the due diligence we perform and if this is the ‘on the ground’ support you need we are keen to work with you.
